Cosmetic medicine: a combined approach for better results
Cosmetic medicine

There is no one “best” treatment for sagging facial skin, but rather a panel of techniques that most often have to be combined.

medecine-esthetiqueThe most common motivations for cosmetic medicine are:

  • frown lines between the eyebrows and forehead wrinkles
  • crow’s feet
  • dark circles under the eyes
  • contouring of the cheekbones and temples
  • naso-labial folds and bitterness lines
  • wrinkles and fine lines around the mouth and lips (perioral wrinkles)
  • loss of skin firmness and elasticity on the face and neck
  • shriveled-looking hands due to loss of volume.

Treatment depends on the patient’s individual situation and skin type.

After accurate analysis of the skin (including photographs and IOMA Sphere® assessment), the practitioner must select from among the various treatment options. A combination of several techniques may be required for optimum results.

A thorough patient interview is essential before treatment is started. Conventional lifestyle guidelines (no smoking, avoidance of excessive sun exposure, correct nutrition.…) must also be discussed.

There is no obvious answer to the classical question: « What treatment should I select from among this panel of techniques? ». Just because “a good friend” raves about a given procedure doesn’t mean it is right for you!  The time when botulinum toxin was the only treatment for forehead wrinkles and hyaluronic acid was the sole answer for naso-labial folds is long gone.

Today, the best results are obtained with a combination of several different techniques.
